HOW TO COMMISSION A PET OR FAMILY PORTRAIT

- Step 1.  Take good photos:  In order to render the most realistic portrait, good quality photos are very important.  See Photo Tips page.  However, if you don't have any great pictures, I can often work with what you have, along with verbal descriptions of the subject. If you are within a reasonable distance from Southern New Hampshire, I prefer to take my own reference photos when possible.

- Step 2. Send photos: You may request my address in order to send me actual photographs, or better still email digital jpeg images at portraits@dalebegley.com . Please include "portrait commission inquiry" in the subject line. If you do not hear from me within 2 to 3 days at most, I probably did NOT receive your email. So please contact me again!

- Step 3.  Choose size, medium, options:  Once I receive the photos I will get back to you to discuss composition ideas, and help you choose the best option for creating a custom portrait of your loved one or pet. Quotes will be honored for 30 days.

- Step 4. Book a portrait:  When the details have been finalized such as medium, size, composition, etc., a 35% deposit is due to book your portrait project.

- Step 5. Approve mockup of composition:  Within several days after I get your deposit, you will receive a sketch or a digital mock-up of the basic layout for your approval. Changes in composition, if any, are made at this time.

-  Step 6. Approve final portrait proof:  After the portrait is finished, a photographic scan of the original will be sent to you. You will suggest final adjustments, and approve.

- Step 7. Final payment is due:  Upon completion and approval of the final portrait, full payment is due.

- Step 8. Your artwork is shipped:  As soon as I receive the final payment I will ship your ‘unframed’ portrait free of charge in the contiguous US via USPS standard service, or by the most appropriate method. Your art is shipped flat, well packaged to prevent damage in transit, and insured. For rates on express shipping methods or for worldwide shipping please contact me for a quote.

Payment procedure:  A non-refundable deposit of 35% is required to book your portrait. The final balance is due upon your approval of the finished portrait. Your payment may be made safely and securely with any major credit card via PayPal. Alternatively you may mail a check.

100% Satisfaction Guarantee:  Your satisfaction is of highest importance to me. I trust the quality of my artwork will satisfy even the highest demands. However, if you are not completely satisfied with your commissioned portrait I will work with you until it is to your liking. All other art purchased through this site must be returned at buyer's expense in original condition within 14 days in order to receive a refund. You must contact me prior to returning the artwork.

Time frame:  Once started, normal completion time is 2 to 10 weeks, depending on size, medium, number of subjects, complexity, etc. I will make every effort to accommodate special gift dates whenever possible. Sometimes there is a waiting list, especially during the holidays, so please book early if possible.

Copyrights terms:  I retain full reproduction copyright on all my artwork whether commissioned or not. Artwork and images may not be used or reproduced without my written permission.

Gift certificates:  For gift certificates, simply specify the amount requested via email and you will be sent a "Payment Request" email with the appropriate amount. Your gift certificate may be mailed to you or directly to the recipient. Gift certificates are valid for 1 year from the date of issue and are non-refundable.
